There are a few things to consider when wanting to get microblading done. This permanent cosmetics procedure isn't for everyone. Although most people will have a great outcome, there are some small risks involved.
Contraindications:
1. Autoimmune Disorders
Why: For the best results, the skin needs to heal quickly and heal well. These disorders cause poor/slow healing and generally increase the probability of getting an infection.
2. Currently using accutane
Why: This topical treatment is notorious for causing thinning of the skin. This means when your artist goes to make those thin strokes, the blade may go deeper then it's supposed to which can cause all kinds of issues from scarring to pigment issues. Because of the thinner skin, it can also tear instead of allowing a clean cut. Did that thought make you cringe? me too.
3. Pregnancy or breast feeding
Why: Pregnancy is obvious for many reasons. The surprising one is breastfeeding. You can definitely use the old adage "pump and dump" method but there is another reason. A legal reason: the number of children that sue their own parents is greatly increasing. Crazy, I know. But if you happen to contract something whether its from this service or not, then pass it on to your child, they could sue you as an adult and blame something like microblading. I don't make this stuff up, folks.
4. Skin allergies
Why: If you have a ton of allergies to beauty products or foods, or anything else, you may have allergies to the pigment. If you are generally allergic to more then just seasonal allergies and/or have very sensitive skin, I highly recommend getting a patch test in advance. Although this is not always a 100% fool proof test, it does help weed out some of that chance. Your artist can apply a small amount of pigment in a sensitive but hidden area such as the inside of the elbow and/or behind the ear. Leave it on for at least 24 hours (remove sooner if there is a reaction).
5. On chemotherapy treatments
Why: Your body is going through SO very much. Any legitimate artist will need a Dr's note and to wait at least a few weeks after completing your last session.
6. Generally an indecisive person
Why: Because you can't seem to make up your mind about anything.... consider wearing the same exact brow style for the next year or so. Can you commit to that? Will you love it for that long?
7. Legal reasons
If you are not at least 18 years of age Why: Even with a parent signature, most artists will say that's a no go.
